The Beatles Re-masters

Postby Matthew Revert » Thu Oct 08, 2009 12:28 pm

You can't get much more underground than the Beatles! Who else has been getting the re-masters that have just come out? I've got about half of them so far and I'm quite impressed with them. I've been reading a lot of audiophile comments that list the faults associated with these re-masters but I'm not attuned enough to notice. I was slightly worried that re-mastering these tracks would compromise their character but I have no complaints about the music itself.

The accompanying notes are sub-standard and give little insight into the albums themselves. The short documentaries on each CD are pathetic and only available in Quicktime. They're my only gripes though.

The Beatles are one of my favourite bands; but I can't afford to buy the remasters anytime soon (I already have the boxset, so I'm pretty right for Beatles music). Still, be very interested to hear what the remastered albums sound like.

If you already have the box set then I would be hard pressed to adamantly recommend the re-masters (unless you're a Beatles nut). I only had a couple of their albums on vinyl and a best of so the Beatles were lacking from my collection in any meaningful way.
