We find ourselves regularly receiving variations of a core group of questions. Here's the answer to those questions.

When will your submissions re-open?

This questions is, as you'd imagine, a very common one. We understand how frustrating it is when you have a manuscript ready to send out, but no one seems to be willing to receive. We're a comparatively very small operation with very limited time. As a result, we have chosen to only accept submissions during reading periods. If we didn't, we simply wouldn't have the required time to release books. As a general rule of thumb, we open up submissions toward the end of the year and keep them open for three months. This wasn't possible in 2010 because of the sheer quantity of material already in the pipeline. Feel free to sign up to our mailing list to receive information about reading periods.

I know your submissions are closed, but I have a manuscript that would be PERFECT for LegumeMan. Will you make an exception and for me?

No we cannot. We have to be very strict about this. Queries of this nature tend to breed frustration for both parties. Best to avoid the whole mess really.

I have a great idea for a book, but I'll only write it if LegumeMan are interested in publishing it. So what d'ya say?

We're only interested in fully written manuscripts, especially if we've never worked with you before. If you're going to submit, please submit a manuscript, not a synopsis for a manuscript that will only be written if we make promises we can't possibly keep.

What's the deal with the free series?

The free series is something we care deeply about, however it needs to take a backseat to our print releases. We only add to the free series when we have the time to do so. All stories in our free series undergo editing, typesetting and cover design, which makes it quite time consuming.

Will you ever release full-colour books?

At this stage, there are no plans to start releasing full-colour books. When considering submitting your work to us, please keep this in mind.
